Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has confirmed that it will launch the BS-VI compliant Activa 125 in India market on 11 September 2019. The company will launch its first BS-VI compliant two-wheeler in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

Earlier today, IAB exclusively revealed the specifications of the BS-VI Honda Activa 125. The BS-VI compliant model will draw 8.29 PS of peak power at 6,500 revs from its 124 cc, single-cylinder engine. In comparison, the current BS-IV version makes 8.63 PS. The updated model will benefit from a fuel injection technology as standard as opposed to the carburettor system on the BS-IV version.

At the unveiling event in June this year, Honda announced that the upcoming BS-VI Activa will feature 26 new patent applications. The BS-VI compliant model will pack PGM-FI Honda Eco Technology (HET), Honda Enhanced Smart Power (eSP), Idling Stop System for better fuel economy and a new silent start system. Honda’s former partner Hero MotoCorp already uses the Idling Stop System (called Idle Stop-Start System or i3S) on its scooters and motorcycles.

The semi-digital instrument console will display real-time economy, average fuel consumption, distance to empty and ECO indicator. Other ride related information available on the digital display will include odometer, service due indicator, malfunction light and the clock. Like the BS-IV model, the BS-VI model will use an analogue meter.

In terms of styling, the Activa 125 BS-VI will feature a redesigned LED position lamp and new signature accents. The front apron will come with chrome chest, while an Activa 125 logo will be seen on the tail lamp. The new Activa 125 will be available in six colour options - Black, Heavy Gray Metallic, Rebel Red Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic Majestic Brown Metallic and Pearl Precious White. The BS-VI Honda Activa 125 will be 36 mm longer, 3 mm wider and 19 mm taller than the outgoing BS-IV version. Its wheelbase, however, will be the same - 1,260 mm.

With all the visual and mechanical updates, the BS-VI compliant Honda Activa 125 will carry a more premium price tag than the current model, which is priced from INR 59,921 (ex-showroom Delhi).
