Jeep has launched a new limited edition of the Grand
Cherokee Down Under, called the Upland. Already available at dealers, it is
based on the Laredo grade and has an MSRP of AUD 61,450 (US$ 42,163),
excluding on-road costs.
The SUV is limited to 44 units and each one comes in
a choice of two exterior colors, Bright White or Diamond Black. Other
highlights include exclusive black 20-inch wheels with a five-spoke design shod
in Goodyear All-Terrain Wrangler tires, glossy black trim and Blue Desert Sky
accents on the Jeep and Grand Cherokee badge surrounds.
The interior of the Grand Cherokee Upland Edition
has been dolled up with Desert Sky Blue accent stitching on the steering wheel,
side door armrests and center armrest. Standard equipment includes the 8.4-inch
Uconnect navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone
connectivity, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Path Detection, while a
single-pane sunroof is an AUD 2,450 (US$ 1,681) option.
Powering Jeep’s limited edition SUV is a 3.0-liter
V6 turbo diesel that churns out 286 HP and 347 Nm of
torque that’s directed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic
transmission. The Grand Cherokee Upland also features a two-speed transfer case
with high and low range, and has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kg.
