Tuning company
Posaidon has unveiled its most powerful Mercedes-AMG GT model to date based
around the track-focused R version. Powering the AMG GT R is a 4.0-liter
twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out 585 HP and 700 Nm of torque.
Posaidon managed to bump that up significantly, to 880 HP and 1000
Nm, allowing the sports car to reach 100 km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds
and hit a 360 km/h top speed.
The key ingredients
to this power increase are two bespoke ball-bearing turbochargers, forged
high-performance pistons and sports air filters. Posaidon has also upgraded the
fuel pumps, fitted new spark plugs, replaced the manifolds and installed new
downpipes with sports catalysts, and rounded everything out with some ECU
tuning.
Although this
particular car is a GT R, Posaidon offers the same upgrade package to the
lesser AMG GT, GT S, and GT C models, as they all feature the same engine, only
in different states of tune.
What’s refreshing
about this tuning job is, that unlike most, it doesn’t including any bold new
exterior panels that provide onlookers with a hint of the vehicle’s superior
performance. If you were to roll up alongside an AMG GT R like this at a red
light, you wouldn’t be able to tell it apart from a stock one. It’s certainly
no Q-car, but it’s as discreet as they come despite the
colossal power bump.
