Released under the Brabus Adventure label, the pack
upgrades the G-Wagen’s already impressive off-road capability with a series of
tweaks, without forgetting about the looks. The package sees the G-Class
receive the 100-mm Brabus Widestar widebody treatment, with the fender
flares giving enough room for maneuver for the 20-inch Monoblock R wheels shod
with maximum-traction off-road tires sized 285/55 R20. For emergencies, there’s
a fifth wheel of the same specification hooked to the pivoted spare wheel
carrier with carbon cover.
The suspension was developed to increase ground
clearance by a further 40 mm thanks to height-adjustable Brabus
Adventure sport springs compatible with the stock electronically-controlled
suspension.
Other features that turn the G-Class into an ideal
vehicle for overlanding include the winch at the front, carbon skid plates,
wind deflector above the windshield housing four LED auxiliary headlamps, a
robust luggage rack on the roof, and a ladder at the rear that facilitates
loading and unloading. The Brabus Adventure pack also includes a custom front
fascia, custom bonnet and bumpers, as well as running boards illuminated at
night by LED lights integrated into the fender flares.
Brabus believes the best
engine for an overlanding-prepped G-Class is the 3.0-liter straight-six
turbodiesel in the G 350 d, which is why the tuner has given it some vitamins.
The Brabus Eco PowerXtra D35 upgrade increases the maximum output by 44 PS and peak torque by 60 Nm for a total of 330 PS at 4,400
rpm and 690 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm.
The driving performance is adjusted accordingly: the
off-roader now needs 7.2 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h and the
top speed increases to 202 km/h. The upgraded diesel is available
with an all-stainless Brabus sport exhaust system with two chrome tailpipes on
each side of the vehicle. Finally, the interior is modified as well with
quilted fine leather and Alcantara appointments, aluminum trim, and many other
goodies.
The Brabus Adventure range is available for all
variants of the current Mercedes G-Class.
