The Chinese office of Hyundai is getting the 2020 facelift version of its Verna sedan/saloon ready for premiere. The same car is known as the Solaris in some countries.

The design changes are dramatic. The taillights are now linked with each other Sonata-style, the number plate has moved to a different position, there is a large anti-fog brake light in the middle of the rear bumper, and the dummy exhaust tips are new, too. Thanks to the revised body kit, the car is now 25mm longer than before while maintaining its wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

The more expensive trims will ship with such goodies LED headlights, frontal collision prevention, and lane control. For whatever reason, the popular 1.6-liter engine will no longer be available, meaning that customers in China will have to make do with the 1.4-liter naturally aspirated mill rated at 100 hp as the only remaining option. Transmissions haven’t been announced yet, but six-speed manual will be available for certain. As for the current automatic transmission, it might get replaced with an IVT.

Little is known about the cabin, but rumors say it will remain as is save for a larger multimedia touchscreen. The 2020 Hyundai Solaris/Verna will debut later this week in Chengdu, China, and sales will launch in the fourth quarter of 2019.
