Skoda has detailed the new models that are set to premiere in front of Frankfurt Motor Show’s visitors. The brand’s stand will host quite a number of new models, with the highlight being the launch of the Skoda iV sub-brand and its two first models: the plug-in hybrid Superb iV and the all-electric Citigo iV city car.

The new Skoda Citigo iV is the company’s first model to be powered exclusively by electricity, featuring a 82 HP electric motor and offering a driving range of up to 265 km on the WLTP cycle, courtesy of its 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The same powertrain is set to be used in the updated e-Up! which will also debut at the same event.

As for the 2020 Superb iV, it’s also the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model, sharing the same powertrain with the VW Passat GTE. It combines a 114 HP electric motor with a 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine for a combined output of 215 HP and 400 Nm of torque. Thanks to its onboard 13kWh battery pack, the Superb iV is capable of driving on electric power alone for up to 55 km on the WLTP cycle.

Skoda has already committed to install 7,000 charging points in and around its facilities by 2025, which represents an investment of 35 million euros ($38 million in current exchange rates). The stand will also host the debut of the Superb Scout, a rugged version offered only in the wagon bodystyle, featuring increased ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive. The Czech brand will also bring the recently announced Monte Carlo and G-Tec variants of the Scala and Kamiq SUVs.
