The new VW Polo range and the new
VW Vento are scheduled to be launched on the 4th of this month. The once-again-facelifted VW Polo
GT seen here is painted in a new cherry red colour. The new car embodies subtle
changes with cues borrowed from the discontinued GTI variant. It features
similar honeycomb grille and a similarly designed sharp bumper. Changes include
sporty underbody spoilers and tweaked tail lamps as well. The latter are the
same units as the ones of the facelifted fifth-gen model that was sold in
Europe. The 16-inch alloys have also been updated with a grey finish.
The VW Polo GT is currently available in 1.2L TSI
petrol engine-7-speed DSG AT and 1.5L TDI diesel engine-5-speed MT
combinations. The petrol engine delivers 105 PS of maximum power and 175 Nm of
peak torque. The diesel engine delivers 110 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. By
March 2020, these BS-IV engines will be collectively replaced by a locally
manufactured, BS-VI 1.0L TSI petrol engine.
The new VW Polo GT will come with an updated list of
creature comforts and convenience features which will keep it relevant and at
par with its segment rivals. It will be safer, too, thanks to high-speed alert
system.
