Seat’s expanded Tarraco SUV range is proudly on show
at the Frankfurt Motor Show including the new PHEV version. The Seat Tarraco PHEV is powered
by a 1.4-liter TSI petrol four with 147 HP and a 114 hp electric motor that
deliver a total of 241 HP and 400 Nm of torque. The electric motor
is fed by a 13 kWh battery pack that, according to Seat, allows for more than 50 km of all-electric driving. Moreover, the Tarraco PHEV can hit 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and max out at 217 km/h.
The Tarraco PHEV on display in Germany comes
complete with the new sporty FR trim recently introduced to the SUV’s range and
consists of flared wheel arches, distinctive 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and
a bespoke front grille. For the hybrid, there’s also an ‘FR-e’ badge on the
tailgate. Interior alterations are minor, but include an enhanced 9.2-inch
touchscreen display, electric sports bucket seats, a new steering wheel and FR
badging.
The Tarraco PHEV signifies an important step from
the company in its pursuit of electrification. At the car’s launch, the VW
Group-owned carmaker announced that it will produce five additional electric
and plug-in hybrid models under the Seat and Cupra brands by early 2021.
