Nepal has become the first export market of the Tata
Harrier. The C-SUV has been launched in India's neighbouring country as the
'Tata H5', with prices starting at a whopping NPR 56,55,000.
Globally, the Harrier name is already in use by
Toyota for its mid-size SUV that is made at the Takaoka Plant in Japan. So, it
was obvious that Tata Motors will ship its Harrier to most or all export
markets with a different name. At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland,
the event where the C-SUV had its international debut, it was called 'Buzzard
Sport'. However, it has been launched as the 'H5' in Nepal, after the 'H5X'
name of the concept it has been derived from.
The Tata H5 is sold in Nepal in the same
specifications and with same features as the Tata Harrier in India. Like in the
domestic market, there are four grades on offer, namely XE, XM, XT and XZ. Xenon HID projector headlamps,
17-inch alloy wheels, ORVMs with logo projection, LED tail lights, 8.8-inch
touchscreen infotainment system, Benecke-Kaliko perforated leather seat
upholstery and door pad inserts, 8-way adjustable driver's seat, instrument
cluster with 7-inch colour TFT display, 9 JBL speakers with Amplifier, 6
airbags and ESP are some of the equipment highlights.
At the heart of the JLR-derived D8 platform-based
C-SUV is an FCA-made 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 140 PS
and 350 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission sends drive to the front
wheels.
