Unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, 2020 Alpina B3 Sedan follows in the footsteps of the new
B3 Touring and will launch in the first quarter of 2020.
Power comes from Munich’s 3.0-liter, twin-turbo
inline-six that’s been reengineered by Alpina and paired to an 8-speed ZF auto
‘box. It generates 462 PS at 5,000-7,000 rpm and 700 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 4,250 rpm. Flat out, it will do 303 km/h, and the 0-100 km/h sprint takes 3.8 seconds, or 0.1-sec
quicker than the B3 Touring.
Like its estate sibling, the sports sedan packs
BMW’s xDrive-based intelligent all-wheel drive system that variably distributes
torque between the two axles as needed. Maximizing traction during high-speed
cornering is an electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential,
whereas contributing to the dynamic yet comfortable ride is the re-tuned
suspension with three driving modes (Comfort+, Comfort and Sport). Moreover, a
Sport+ driving mode is available for the variable sports steering, torque
distribution and gearbox.
Several aerodynamic elements, a sports exhaust
system with twin tailpipes integrated into the rear diffuser and 20-inch forged
wheels (19-inch for winter tires) shod in Pirelli rubber contribute to the
revised stance of the car. Customers can also choose between the
model-exclusive Alpina Blue Metallic and Alpina Green Metallic paint finishes.
Inside, there are ‘Alpina’ door sills, a plaque with
the models production build number, a hand-stitched Lavalina leather sports
steering wheel and metal emblems in the floor mats and seat backrests. The
company’s in-house leather shop offers virtually unlimited customization
options, allowing owners to tailor the interior to their personal preferences.
