Audi has confirmed the A6 Allroad is returning to America next year.
Set to arrive 20 years after the first-generation wagon, the 2020 A6 Allroad
follows in the footsteps of the European variant which was introduced this
summer.
The
model has a rugged appearance as it features an Alu-optic skid plate, an
Allroad-specific grille and 20-inch alloy wheels. The wagon will also come
equipped with matte scandium gray body cladding, but body-colored components
will also be available.
Detailed
specifications will be announced closer to launch, but Audi said the wagon will
come nicely equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a Bang & Olufsen premium
audio system and an LED ambient lighting package. The company also said we can
expect the same “extensive infotainment range and driver assistance systems
that can be found in the A6 sedan.” This means there should be a 12.3-inch
digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment system and a lower 8.6-inch
display.
The US-spec model
will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 335 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a quattro
all-wheel drive system.
While the
powertrain carries over the A6, the A6 Allroad has an adaptive air suspension
that is designed for off-road use. It
provides up to 185 mm of ground clearance but, most the time, the
wagon has 140 mm of ground clearance. Speaking of off-roading, the
model also has hill descent control, tilt angle assist and dynamic all-wheel
steering.
There’s no word on
pricing, but Audi also announced plans to bring the Anniversary Edition
stateside. It features an exclusive
Gavial Green exterior as well as Sarder brown leather seats. Other highlights include stainless steel
pedals, fine grain ash wood trim and a leather airbag cap with contrast
stitching.
