Ducati unveiled its 2020 line-up on 23 October, and
the list included new and updated models. Among many new versions of the
existing products was the Scrambler Icon Dark. The Dark
version is based on the standard Scrambler Icon. The new version of the
Scrambler family brings a stealthy paint-job to the motorcycle. The “Matt
Black” paint on the Scrambler Icon Dark is complemented by a black frame, black
seat and grey rim. The aluminium side panels on the fuel tank and an almost
similar to the exhaust adds a neat contrast to the styling of the Scrambler
Icon Dark.
All other styling specifications are identical to
the standard Scrambler Icon. The aluminium side panels are interchangeable for
customization of the visuals as per the owner’s choice. On the Scrambler,
modern yet authentic materials are combined to perfection. The aluminium side
panels match the steel of the teardrop tank and the glass of the headlight. The
black-painted crankcases and brushed cylinder head fins, which are also seen on
the standard Scrambler Icon, complement the dark theme of the Scrambler Icon
Dark.
Other features of the motorcycle include LED
headlight with DRL, auto-off LED indicators, LCD instrument console with gear
indicator and fuel level info and the optional Ducati Multimedia System that
gives access to music, incoming calls or to chat with the passenger on the
intercom.
Mechanical specifications even after the upgrade to
Euro-V emission norms are the same. Ducati has not revealed the complete
spec-sheet for the 2020 Scrambler range. The 803 cc L-Twin, Desmodromic
distribution, 2 valves per cylinder, air-cooled mill, in Euro-IV guise, made 73 hp at 8,250 rpm and 67 Nm at 5,750 rpm.
The motorcycle boasts a low seat height of 798 mm
and a dry weight of 175 kg. The wide handlebars aim to deliver upright and
relaxed ergonomics. The hydraulic clutch control with an adjustable lever is
aimed to further improve the comfort levels.
The motorcycle is built around a twin-spar steel
trellis frame and it features a die-cast aluminium swingarm. The 10-spoke alloy
wheels, with 18-inch front and 17-inch rear combination, are wrapped in
Enduro-delivered Pirelli tyres that are said to be optimised for Ducati
Scrambler. The motorcycle features dual-channel Cornering ABS as standard.
