Fiat’s rebadged version of the Renault Traffic, Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro and Nissan NV300, the Talento, has been given a mild update that should keep it on the competitive side for a few more years.

The biggest change is the introduction of the 2.0-liter EcoJet diesel engine, which meets the Euro6d-Temp emission standards, providing more power and being up to 11 percent more fuel efficient than the previous 1.6-liter unit.

Available in three outputs, with 120, 145 and 170 PS and 320, 350 and 380 Nm of torque respectively, it packs variable geometry turbocharging for smoother rides and better performance at low speeds. It also gets Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) that reduces CO2 emissions by injecting an AdBlue solution into the exhaust gas.

The engine lineup is completed by the turbo’d 1.6-liter EcoJet, which produces 95 PS and 260 Nm of torque.

The interior retains the same layout and rugged fabrics, but gets new black trim. Fiat also added a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and DAB radio, as well as an USB input.

The 2020 Talento is available in several body styles, including low and high roofs, crew cab, floor cab and a passenger variant, as well as in two lengths and two different wheelbases. It has between 5.2 and 8.6 cubic meters of space inside and a payload that can reach 1,266 kg. Furthermore, by opening a partition located under the passenger seats, it can carry objects that measure up to 3.75 meters in length, or 4.15 meters in the long wheelbase model.
