Lamborghini’s
Squadra Corse racing division built its first bespoke road-going model last
year with the Aventador-based SC18 Alston. ow, it has dropped a teaser video
previewing an all-new, track-only limited edition model based, once again, on
the Aventador.
Last month, a
member on the McLaren Life forums claimed that he had previewed a new hardcore
Aventador-based model dubbed the ‘SVR’ that will be limited to track use, be
produced at just 40 units worldwide, and act as “Lamborghini’s version of
FXX.”. It appears as though the model featured in this teaser is the SVR (name
unconfirmed).
A series of
flashing images of the car reveal that it will be painted in bright green and
feature a bodywork distinct from the Aventador, with no headlights, a hood with
air intakes and a pronounced front splitter. In addition, it sports radical
wing mirrors, a pronounced roof scoop, and an elongated decklid, a massive
carbon fiber rear wing and an aggressive diffuser.
In the video’s
description, Lamborghini says that it will be powered by a naturally aspirated
6.5-liter V12 delivering 830 HP, a full 60 hp more than the Aventador SVJ. We
also know that the car will feature a 6-speed Xtrac sequential transmission and
a bespoke limited-slip differential.
The Italian
automaker has not announced when this new Aventador-based model will be
officially unveiled, but we expect to hear more in the coming weeks, if not
days. It is thought that customer deliveries will kick off in 2021.
