Ducati has unveiled its 2020 product line-up, and
among the list of new versions of the existing models is the Multistrada 1260 S
Grand Tour. The new Ducati Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour is based on the
Multistrada 1260 S, and thus it features all the hardware specifications that
are available on the S version.
The GT badge also brings several components such as
side panniers, heated grips, additional LED lights, centre stand, tyre pressure
monitoring system and hands-free tank filler plug as standard. The motorcycle
also benefits from an exclusive livery that brings a “Multistrada 1260 S” badge
and red highlights that sit on the matte Sandstone Grey colour. The “Grand
Tour” branding is visible above the headlight and on the saddle.
All other styling details and specifications are
identical to the Multistrada 1260 S. Thus, the front fascia comprises twin-pod
LED headlight, an adjustable windscreen and a beak-style design. The front
blinkers are integrated into the knuckle guards, which gives a clean look to
the fascia.
Mechanical specifications include a 1,262 cc Ducati
Testastretta DVT, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 8-valve engine that benefits
from 4 Riding Modes. The motor is tuned to deliver a maximum power of 158 hp at
9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 129 Nm at 7,500 rpm. Ducati claims
that 85% of the torque is already available at 3,500 rpm. The six-speed transmission
benefits from a Ducati Quick Shift up & down (DQS) as standard. The oil
changes are scheduled every 15,000 km, while the "Desmo Service"
interval stands at 30,000 km.
Surprisingly, the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour
continues to use a Euro-IV compliant motor. It would be safe to assume that the
special edition model could be targeted to clear the Euro-IV bin before the
updated Euro-V compliant motorcycles arrive.
The safety package includes Cornering ABS, Cornering
Lights (DCL) and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC). Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) and
the semi-active suspension control – Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evo (DSS) – also
come as standard equipment on the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour. Moreover, the
Grand Tour model also gets standard Bluetooth module as standard. The module
works with Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) and offers access to functions like
calls and music through the switchgear.
