Toyota has updated
the Corolla hatch for the Australian market, giving it new safety and
convenience features. Offered in three trim levels named Ascent Sport, SX and
ZR, it’s priced at AUD 23,335, AUD 28,235 and AUD 32,135
(US$ 15,843/19,170/21,818) and will arrive at dealers on November
1.
The most affordable
member of the series features the addition of Toyota’s latest multimedia
system, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. Further improvements
have been made to the SX and ZR variants of the compact hatchback, which gain
the new parking support brake, a system that works up to 15 km/h, using
sensors to detect different objects and rear crossing vehicles that could pose
a threat.
The mid-range and
top-of-the-line versions of the revised Corolla sport rear cross-traffic alert
as part of the blind-spot monitoring system, which uses a warning buzzer to
alert those behind the wheel of vehicles passing behind the car. Other
enhancements include the addition of an icon displayed on the reversing camera
image and side indicators mounted on the mirror caps. Furthermore, the Corolla
ZR can be ordered with a new two-tone look that combines the Feverish Red paint
job with a black roof, pillars and spoiler.
The engine lineup
remains unchanged and consists of a 2.0-liter petrol four and a 1.8-liter
petrol-electric hybrid.
