Mercedes-Benz India has launched the V-Class Elite
at INR 1.1 crore*. This is the top-of-range trim of the V-Class present in
India. It will be sold through Mercedes-Benz dealerships throughout the
country. The old Mercedes V-Class was launched in India in January this year,
in two trims: ‘Expression’ and ‘Exclusive’. The Elite trim is based on the
facelifted V-Class. The higher sticker price of the luxurious people mover is
justified by its revamped looks, new engine and a host of additional features.
On the outside, the Mercedes V-Class Elite gets
remastered front bumper comprising larger air intake and chrome highlights,
redesigned headlamps and grille which features twin horizontal chrome slats.
Inside, it sports reclining, massaging, heating and cooling functions on the
middle row seats. Also, it gets new upholstery and interior trim and sliding
sunroof with a panoramic sunroof as an option. Moreover, it rolls on 17-inch
5-twin spoke light-alloy wheels as standard, while 18-inch 5 twin-spoke
light-alloy wheels are offered as an option.
The exterior colour shade comprises seven options,
namely Steel Blue, Selenite Grey, Graphite Grey, Brilliant Silver, Obsidian
Black, Cavansite Blue, and Rock Crystal White. On the mechanical front, the
Mercedes V-Class Elite sources power from a BS-VI 2-litre diesel engine which
weighs 17% lesser in comparison to the previous engine. The engine churns out
163 PS of maximum power and 380 Nm torque and comes mated to a 9-speed auto
gearbox. The safety package of the Mercedes V-Class includes features like 8
airbags, ESP, ABS, EBD, active parking, crosswind assist, attention assist,
traction control, hill start assist and much more.
Till date, there isn't much competition available
for the Mercedes V-Class in the Indian market, but now Toyota is gearing up to
launch the Vellfire which will be a direct rival to the Mercedes V-Class.
