One of the oldest compact crossovers in the market, the Mitsubishi ASX, which was facelifted earlier this year, has launched in Australia. Offered in three trim levels named the ES, LS and Exceed, it starts at AUD 24,990 (US$ 17,251), AUD 30,240 (US$ 20,876) and AUD 35,740 (US$ 24,672), respectively. The MR and GSR grades will become available from December 19.

The 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and taillights, rear spoiler, 8-inch infotainment system, DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, reversing camera, automatic climate control and several other features are standard in the entry-level model.

Choosing the ASX LS will get you roof rails, rear privacy glass, smart key and one-touch start and chrome interior door handles. The Exceed adds two-tone 18-inch wheels, dark grille, panoramic roof, leather seats with heating at the front and 4-way electric adjustment on the driver’s side, TomTom navigation, Rockford Fosgate premium sound system and auto-leveling headlights.

The ASX MR features black exterior details on the grille, side mirror caps and alloy wheels, privacy rear glass, front fog lamps, aluminum pedals, smart key with one-touch start and leather-wrapped steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever, with red stitching. The GSR sports a rear spoiler, black headlining, seats wrapped in micro suede and synthetic leather, paddle shifters and 6-speaker audio system.

Mitsubishi’s compact crossover is available in 8 exterior colors and can be further specced with the AUD 2,500 (US$ 1,726) ADAS Pack, which includes lane departure warning, lane change assist, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, auto headlamps, high beams and wipers, turn indicators in the side mirrors and front fog lamps. The AUD 1,699 (US$ 1,173) Adventure Kit, AUD 999 (US$ 690) Protection Pack and AUD 2,199 (US$ 1,518) Style Set are other options.

The GSR and Exceed are powered by a 2.4-liter unit with 167 PS and 222 Nm of torque, while the rest get a 2.0-liter that puts out 150 PS and 197 Nm of torque and is paired to a CVT or, in the base ES only, a 5-speed manual transmission.
