This year, Batman turns 80 so Italy’s Camal Studio
decided to give the Dark Knight a ride to remember. Named appropriately (though
Bertone might not agree) BAT80, it looks as shocking and dramatic as a
Batmobile should thanks to striking design features such as the ridiculously
long bonnet, front fenders modeled by the huge wheels, a sweptback cabin, as
well as overly aggressive bumpers.
Seen from the side, the proposed Batmobile features
a line that divides the upper section from the lower one. Through an opening,
an air intake/outlet allows the passage of a cooling air flow, effectively
ditching a conventional ventilation system. The wheels have no inner tube and
feature adaptive rims from which claws come out when the BAT80 needs to tackle
extreme terrain.
At the front, one can also notice the dissipation
blades that cover the entire central part almost all the way up to the cabin.
Not only do they look cool but they also serve the purpose of cooling the
engine, which in this case is based on experimental supercapacitors with
particle propulsion from a particle accelerator.
On the bonnet one can also see condensation outlets
which are there because the cooling system uses liquid nitrogen. Designed to
continue the Batmobile legacy, the BAT80 is a hypercar filled with gadgets such
as the shockwave guns present on the front of the car or the side machine gun
that can be equipped with various types of ammunition.
The cabin is made of multilayered glass and opens by
sliding the canopy towards the front, in true Batmobile fashion. An ultrasonic
radar grid allows a three dimensional holographic view of the surrounding
environment. See without being seen, that’s the idea behind the entire concept.
