Remember Dartz, Latvia’s best known and most
outlandish vehicle manufacturer? Can’t blame you if you don’t, but they are
back with a new project. Their latest creation certainly true to their ways: an over-the-top
body kit that makes the Hummer H2, on which it’s based, hard to recognize. As
Top Gear has learned, the “Black Stallion” is a one-off built for a movie Dartz is unable to reveal at the
moment.
The sinister-looking bodywork is made from Kevlar
and carbon, as well as a special hexagonal carbon fiber. The unique vehicle
features the stock Hummer H2 V8 engine which apparently is fast enough to shoot
chasing scenes.
However, the Latvian company can put a Hellcat
engine in the thing should the customer wish so, along with a new transmission
and modified suspension setup. Despite the use of Kevlar and carbon, the
Prombron built for the movie is 500 kg heavier than a standard
Hummer H2.
The road-going version is said to get a
carbon-Kevlar body instead, making the ridiculous curb weight a little less so,
and the SUV more manageable for driving outside of movie sets. The folks from Dartz say a “Black
Stallion” could become available for at least € 300,000 (US$ 331,075), which is an
obscene amount of money for what is essentially a Hummer H2 with some
aftermarket bits and pieces and a questionable body kit.
