Classic Legends, a subsidiary of the Mahindra &
Mahindra Group has sent out an invitation of a product launch that is scheduled
on 15 November. While the two-wheeler brand has remained tight-lipped about the
product details, the teaser image attached with the invitation suggests that we
will see the Perak Bobber at the aforementioned event.
The date, 15 November, also marks the one year of
the brand’s re-entry in the Indian market. Regular followers would remember
that Classic Legends had unveiled the Perak Bobber on 15 November 2018. The
company had also announced its prices, although the motorcycle was never
launched. Back in November last year, the Perak Bobber was priced at INR 1.89
lakh*. The motorcycle was equipped with a dual-channel ABS, right from the
unveiling. Unless Jawa has some surprises planned for the launch event, we do
not expect to see a single-channel ABS version of the vehicle.
Mechanical specifications on the Jawa Perak Bobber
are slightly different from the company’s existing products, the Jawa Classic
and the Forty-Two. Unlike the two motorcycles that are already available in the
Indian market, the Perak bobber uses a bored-out 334 cc single-cylinder,
liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the
single-cylinder engine pumps out 30 bhp of peak power and a maximum torque of
31 Nm. In comparison, the existing 293 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC
motor that powers the Jawa Classic and the Forty-Two delivers 27.37 PS of max
power and a peak torque of 28 Nm. The Perak Bobber should arrive with a BS-VI
engine right from the start.
The Jawa Perak bobber, which was unveiled late last
year, was seen in matte black paint theme. The motorcycle is built around a
double-cradle chassis. The suspension setup comprises telescopic forks at the
front and an under-seat mono-shock at the back. The Jawa Classic and the Jawa
Forty-Two use twin-sided rear springs at the back for a more retro look.
Styling cues include a single cantilever leather-wrapped seat, short front and
rear fenders, a taillight that will occupy the space under the rider seat, flat
handlebar and bar-end mirrors.
Braking hardware includes a 280 mm disc at the front
and a 240 mm rotor at the back. The setup is completed by ByBre-sourced
callipers. The motorcycle rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke
wheels that are wrapped in Pirelli-sourced tyres. We may also see more products at
the event that is scheduled in November. A report from October this year
claimed that the Classic Legends will launch three Jawa bikes in the Indian
market.
