Yamaha has launched
the BS-VI compliant FZ-FI and FZS-FI in India. The BS-VI Yamaha scooters will
start arriving in January 2020. Apart
from retaining all colour models of both FZ-FI and FZS-FI from the BS-IV range,
Yamaha has added two new options to the FZS-FI – Darknight and Metallic Red.
The new FZ-FI and FZS-FI with ABS were launched in January 2019 and they
feature a fairly new design. Therefore, India Yamaha Motor has not made any
changes to the visuals of the motorcycle.
Styling cues
continue to feature body-coloured headlight mask, negative LCD instrument
cluster, muscular design with chrome highlights (only for FZS-FI), engine cowl
(only for FZS-FI) and a single-piece step-up seat among other changes.
Retaining the design has helped to keep the price hike minimal.
The new Yamaha
FZ-FI and the FZS-FI are priced at INR 99,200* and INR 101,200* respectively.
The Darknight version carries a marginal premium, and it retails at INR
102,700*. In comparison, the BS-IV compliant FZ-FI and FZS-FI are priced at INR
96,680* and INR 98,680* respectively.
Engine
specifications have undergone a few changes as well, and the BS-VI compliant
models make relatively lower power-output numbers than the BS-IV variants. The
149 cc air-cooled, SOHC, 2-valve engine bow makes 12.4 PS of peak power at
7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.6 Nm at 5,500 rpm. In comparison, the
BS-IV model delivered 13.2 PS of power at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of torque at
6,000 rpm from the same motor. The compression ratio of the new model stands at
9.6:1 as against 9.5:1 on the BS-IV version. The single-cylinder mill is paired
with a five-speed gearbox.
Anchoring
department continues to pack disc brakes on both wheels and a single-channel
ABS. The shock absorption tasks are handled by conventional telescopic forks at
the front and a mono-shock suspension at the back.
