The Dodge Charger soldiers on into the
2020MY with a few revisions, including the addition of an AWD version of the
Charger GT.
Set to launch next month from US$ 34,995,
excluding the US$ 1,495 destination charge and dealer fees, and to arrive at
dealerships in the first quarter of 2020, it joins the Charger SXT AWD with
all-weather capability.
The Charger GT packs an all-wheel
drive system and is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that puts out 300 HP at
6,350 rpm and 358 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, with more than 90
percent available between 1,800 and 6,400 rpm. The engine is hooked up to the
eight-speed automatic transmission, with paddle shifters, and it returns an
EPA-estimated 18/27 mpg (13.1-8.7 l/100 km) in city/highway.
The 2020 Charger GT can deliver up to
100 percent of the torque to the rear wheels, with no driver intervention.
Those who want to enjoy the AWD system at all times need to put it in Sport
mode, which also enhances the gear changes and keeps the revs higher.
Furthermore, the car features a three-mode ESC with ‘full-off’ setting, as well
as Vehicle Dynamic Control.
The driver of the Charger GT can view
the gear selection in the center instrument cluster display and can check out
the reaction times, G-force indicator, 0-96 km/h times and lap times
in the customizable cluster display.
Moreover, the Charger GT comes with a
special suspension setup, all-season tires that wrap around 19-inch aluminum
wheels with Satin Carbon or, optionally, Black Noise look, a reversing camera,
projector LED fog lamps, performance hood, sculpted side sills and a rear
spoiler.
