Prototype
versions of Hyundai’s Santa Cruz pickup have been coursing the streets for so
long, the reveal simply cannot be too far away. A few days ago, we posted a
bunch of spy photos; another pic joins them today.
The
compact truck still doesn’t have an official name, but it is generally believed
that it will be called ‘Santa Cruz’. As for the localization, the Korean
company says it will launch a production line in the United States and conduct
the initial launch event there.
In
terms of features, the pickup will sport AWD and ship with several cab types to
choose from. According to the company, it will inherit some of the stylistic
cues from the Santa Cruz Concept and some of the marque’s latest cars, but will
still boast ‘much more individuality’.
Rumor
has it the series will pack a hybrid powertrain composed from a 2.5-liter IC
engine and a single electric motor.
