electric Mantis motorcycle has been revealed at the ongoing India Bike Week. It
is an offering by Orxa Energies, a Bengaluru-based start-up, and is designed as
an entry-level high performance electric bike. Mantis sports the style of a
naked street fighter and promises and exciting ride. However, the company also
noted that Mantis can use multiple lightweight battery packs simultaneously to
offer extended riding range. Mantis electric motorcycly is likely to be
launched in the latter half of 2020 and will be priced as a premium offering
because of its modern features and high-end specifications.
Mantis
electric bike's naked styling is highlighted by its mass-forward stance,
raised, muscular fuel tank, short seat with step-up design, and low-set handlebars. Orxa noted that the frame
of the bike is made using Aerospace-grade aluminium alloy and helps improve the
handling. Mantis
electric bike comes with fully-digital instrument panel which offer all the
necessary readouts like speed, battery charge, riding range, and other vehicle
related telematics.
Mantis
is powered by a 9 kWh battery pack which includes 6 smaller modules, each of
1.5 kWh. The company noted that these modules are swappable in nature and the
battery pack uses a proprietary battery management system to offer extended
riding range of 200 km on a single charge. Mantis
electric bike can be fully charged in about 3.5 hours using a conventional
portable charger. Mantis
fully-electric bike can achieve a top-speed of 140 km/h.
Orxa
noted that Mantis electric bike's India launch will take place by mid-2020 and
that the bike will be priced in the ₹3lakh to ₹4 lakh range.
