Renault Sport is ready to tackle the Andros Trophy, and they have prepped one exciting Zoe for the ice racing championship. Featuring two electric motors, one on each axle, that deliver a combined output of 340 PS, and a 27 kWh battery that can be charged from 0 to 50 percent in 25 minutes, it tips the scales at 1,030 kg, nearly 400 kg less than the curb weight of the production supermini.
The racer also features revised mechanicals, including bigger brakes, to help it cope with the extra output, which is 205 PS more than the standard car, and has an 88 mm shorter wheelbase, at 2,500 mm. The custom wide body has been made of composite materials and the car boasts racing wheels wrapped in chunky rubber, a roll cage and racing livery.
Jean-Baptiste Duborg, who will put the Zoe through its paces during the series along with Nicolas Prost and Emmanuel Moinel, said: “I’m looking forward to this new story with DA Racing on the Andros e-Trophy. We have set ourselves a bold challenge, with the major support of Renault and Motul. This new version of the 100% Electric Andros Trophy is a daunting challenge and I intend to confirm my status as a four-time winner. It is a real sporting challenge that awaits us in the next weeks, but we are ready.”
The championship will kick off on December 7-8, with the Val-Thorens special in the French Alps, followed by Andorra on December 20-21.
