Shelby
introduced the F-150 Super Snake Sport concept at SEMA earlier this year and
now the company has confirmed the high-performance pickup is going into limited
production. Set to
debut at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona next
month, the production pickup is based on a single cab Ford F-150 with
four-wheel drive.
On
the styling front, the model has been given an aggressive makeover as it sports
a new front bumper, a ram air hood and a unique splitter. The truck also has
mesh grille inserts, body stripes and 22-inch aluminum wheels that are backed
up by a high-performance braking system with red calipers. Last but not least,
there’s an aerodynamic toneau cover and a carpeted bed.
The
interior hasn’t been forgotten as drivers will find custom leather seats, faux
carbon fiber trim and billet pedals. Other highlights include new gauges,
special floor mats and an individually numbered plaque.
Power
comes from a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 395 hp. Of
course, you’d be stupid to opt for that variant as you can spend an extra US$ 7,300 to get a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that develops 770 hp. During testing, Shelby said the supercharged model has been clocked going
from 0-96 km/h in just 3.45 seconds. Other
performance features include a retuned suspension and a Borla exhaust.
Pricing
starts at US$ 86,085 for the naturally aspirated variant and US$ 93,385 for the
supercharged model – including the cost of a “well optioned” F-150. Only 250
units will be built for the 2020 model year in the United States, but a
“limited number” will be available internationally.
