While Thailand and other Asian
markets received an all-new Isuzu D-Max in October last year, the UK continues
with the old model for the time being. Isuzu’s local importer has even
announced updates for the range-topping model, the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35,
and that could mean the new D-Max will not land in Europe that soon. The
muscled-up D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 retains its defining features, including
the 35-inch Nokian Rotiiva Tyres, 17×10-inch AT Black Alloy Wheels and Flared
Wheel Arch Extensions, while also receiving significant upgrades.
The most important is the new
Bilstein suspension which replaces the previously-available Fox performance series
suspension “to ensure the D-Max Arctic Trucks can tackle even tougher
terrains.” The model also gains new extended profile black side steps that
incorporate a chunky tread pattern and the new AT logo with lava color coding.
The logo is also applied to the wheel center cap and the upgraded exterior
badging on the fender and tailgate. There are six available body colors: Cosmic
Black Mica, Obsidian Grey Mica, Splash White, Titanium Silver Met, Sapphire
Blue Mica and Spinel Red Mica.
Inside, the Isuzu D-Max Arctic
Trucks AT35 becomes more luxurious courtesy of a bespoke leather trim tailored
specifically for this model. The standard quilted leather on the seats features
a striking geometric pattern and central spine detail. The seats also gain more
pronounced side bolsters while the front headrests feature the Arctic Trucks
logo.
Other interior updates include
a new 9-inch Multifunction Color Touchscreen with an Arctic Trucks start-up
screen, nine-speakers including a subwoofer, satellite navigation and DAB
radio. The interface offers Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
connectivity. The audio kit also comes with front and rear USB ports, an HDMI
port and a Wireless Charger located in the top glove box.
Finally, the Isuzu D-Max
Arctic Trucks AT35 gains a front camera positioned on the front bumper to
monitor the area in front of the truck that would normally be in the driver’s
blind spot. The images are relayed on the center display along with those
captured by the reversing camera to assist during parking maneuvers.
Prices start at £ 39,995
(US$ 51,990) for the manual gearbox and £ 40,995 (US$ 53,390) for the automatic
transmission.
