Nissan has given its biggest
minivan a special edition version for Japan at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon. We’re
talking about the Nissan Elgrand which can be had in a ‘Highway Star Jet Black
Urban Chrome’ edition starting from January 29. Those of you who are familiar
with the Japanese domestic market know that Nissan used to offer the Elgrand
Highway Star Jet Black Urban Chrome for a limited time in February 2018.
Apparently, the strong demand
convinced Nissan to offer it again, this time as a special edition. For starters, the big minivan
sports a sinister all-black exterior including the paint, jet black front
grille elements, jet black fog lamp trim and 18-inch aluminum wheels with a
dark graphite finish.
Things look more welcoming on
the inside as the special edition Elgrand features tan premium leather seats,
tan stitching on the door panels and woodgrain trim on the dashboard, doors and
multifunction steering wheel. The latter is wrapped in black leather with tan
stitching and wood trim. The luxurious ambience is enhanced by the captain’s
chairs on the second row and thick carpeting.
Depending on the grade,
standard equipment also includes the NissanConnect navigation system, Around
View Monitor and rear seat entertainment system. As for convenience features,
there is a one-touch auto sliding door on the driver’s side and a power
tailgate.
Prices for the Nissan Elgrand
Highway Star Jet Black Urban Chrome start from 4,373,600 yen (US$ 39,800) for the
model equipped with the QR25DE 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Nissan
also offers the special edition model with the 3.5-liter V6 which start at
5,442,800 yen (US$ 49,535). Both engines are mated to CVTs and come with an
optional 4WD system.
As a reminder, the Elgrand
shares underpinnings with North America’s now defunct Nissan Quest.
