The 2020 Renault Megane R.S. TCR racer has
just been unveiled in Australia, where it will be making its on-track debut
during pre-season testing later this week. In designing the new race car,
Renault Sport GRM took some visual inspiration from the road-going Megane R.S.
Trophy-R, developing a striking yellow livery with black accents and Renault’s
diamond graphics.
In Australia, the Megane R.S. TCR will
compete in the local TCR Australia racing championship thanks to the Garry
Rogers Motorsport team. It will be driven by experienced racer James Moffat,
who just a few months ago set a front-wheel drive production vehicle record in
the Trophy-R around Australia’s The Bend Motorsport Park.
TCR Australia was only established last
year and is one of dozens of TCR championships taking place around the world.
Last year, competing cars included the VW Golf GTI TCR, Audi RS 3 LMS TCR,
Subaru WRX STI TCR, Holden Astra TCR, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR, Hyundai
i30 N TCR, Honda Civic Type R TCR, Cupra Leon TCR, Peugeot 308 TCR, and of
course, the Renault Megane R.S. TCR.
