Ford Brazil’s Troller brand has launched a
new version of its T4 body-on-frame off-roader called TX4. The main change over
the existing model is the fact that the TX4 packs a six-speed automatic
transmission, whereas the T4 only comes with a six-speed manual. Sourced from
the Ranger pickup, the gearbox is calibrated for driving on all types of
terrain and offers three driving modes: Drive, Sport and Manual.
Besides the new gearbox, which Troller
hopes will attract customers from other segments, the TX4 adds a locking rear
differential electrically operated by a button on the center console.
Additionally, the Troller TX4 brings other exclusive items that enhance its
styling and off-road capability.
Those include steel bumpers, side steps
and protectors, a snorkel, automatic headlights with “super white lamps,”
auxiliary Hella LED lights, Pirelli Scorpion MTR 245/70 R17 tires, and Isofix
anchor points. The 2020 Troller TX4 can be had exclusively with dual-tone paint
schemes combining one of three main body colors (Trancoso Brown, Maragogi Green
and Frosted Silver) with Naval Blue on the grille, hood, roof, bumpers,
tailgate, side steps and snorkel.
The interior of the TX4 also brings
exclusive items such as the unique vinyl seats with orange stitching and TX4
logo on the backrests and the orange contours for the central air vents.
Standard equipment also includes double glass sunroof, dual-zone automatic air
conditioning, power windows and mirrors, trip computer, split rear seats,
alarm, and a panel for installing off-road navigation devices. As with the T4,
the TX4 features the JBL Harman Smart Car Drive infotainment system with a
6.75-inch screen and Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity.
Under the hood, the new Troller model
features the same 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder turbo diesel rated at 200 PS and 470 Nm of torque. The standard 4WD system offers 4×2,
4×4 High and 4×4 Low modes, activated via a shift-on-the-fly switch.
Prices for the Brazilian-developed and
built 2020 Troller TX4 start from R$ 167,530 (US$ 39,120) in its home market.
