Bentley Mulliner released a second teaser
image of the upcoming Bacalar, the latest coachbuilt creation of the company’s
specialist division. The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar will also become just the
second two-seater Bentley since 1930, once it breaks cover on March 3, at the
Geneva Motor Show.
The new teaser image reveals a strict
two-seat cabin boasting a pair of “exquisitely stitched” seats and some luggage
room behind them, occupied by a bespoke pair of travel cases that are trimmed
to match the rest of the interior.
Very few details are known so far about
the Mulliner Bacalar, but these include that it’s going to be a pure GT with a
convertible body, featuring styling inspired by Bentley’s EXP100 concept car
and its outrageous proportions.
Power will most likely come from the
trademark 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbo engine, which in the case of the Continental
GT produces 626 HP. The new Bacalar will be Mulliner’s first true coachbuilt
vehicle since 2002 and the State Limousine built for Queen Elizabeth in the UK.
The name Bacalar comes from a Mexican
lake, a popular tourist destination known for its bright blue and turquoise
waters. Production of the bespoke Bacalar will be kept in very low numbers, at
10 to 12 units planned, each priced at around US$ 2 million.
Bentley will reveal the new Mulliner
Bacalar on March 3 at the Geneva Motor Show, with the event to be livestreamed
