Puritalia Automobili will bring an
evolution of last year’s Berlinetta to the 2020 Geneva Motor Show next week
under the name of Project SuperVEloce. The small Italian sports car maker did
not reveal any juicy details about its latest model except that it will feature
a fully electric powertrain and built-in artificial intelligence technology “to
drive power, performance and handling”. At first glance, nothing appears to
have changed in the design department compared to the Berlinetta.
The teaser image accompanying the
announcement reveals the same old-school styling, with key design elements like
the headlights and taillights, hood scoop and broad fenders carrying over.
Nonetheless, we expect a few revisions in the bumper department and perhaps a
closed-off grille to set the two models apart.
A customer-spec Berlinetta will also be
showcased in Geneva, boasting a Rosso Vesuvio exterior, custom forged monoblock
wheels as well as exposed carbon fiber and white Italian Nabuco leather inside.
It does 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 335 km/h.
The PHEV powertrain combines a 5.0-liter
V8 with an electric motor for a total system output of 951 HP and 1,248 Nm of torque. A tiny 5.2 kWh battery pack gives the
Puritalia Berlinetta an all-electric driving range of 20 km.
Production is capped at 150 units and prices start at € 553,350 (US$ 602,000).
