Chevrolet may have unveiled China’s
seven-seat Blazer SUV in November, but the automaker has kept the interior a
secret until now. The Blazer SUV will launch in the first half of this year in
China so it’s time to check out the first photos of the cabin, which is
obviously roomier than the US-spec Blazer. Unlike the Blazer sold in North
America, which comes with five seats, China’s Blazer was designed with a
versatile reconfigurable seven seating layout.
The 2+3+2 arrangement is said to cater to
the needs and preferences of Chinese families and is made possible even though
the wheelbase remains the same at 2,863 mm. The overall length,
however, is significantly increased at around 5,000 mm, compared to
the US-spec model’s 4,862 mm.
The Blazer offers 37 storage spaces and up
to 1,970 liters of cargo space when the second- and third-row
seats are folded flat. With all seats in place, the trunk offers a space of 222
liters, while with the third-row folded down, the capacity
increases to 883 liters.
The Chinese-spec Chevrolet Blazer features
an almost identical dashboard, except for the 10-inch touchscreen display which
is bigger than in the Blazer sold Stateside. The rest of the dash looks the
same, including the flying-wing dual-cockpit design and dual-barreled 8-inch
LCD instrument panel.
For an added sense of spaciousness,
Chevrolet offers a 1-square-meter panoramic skylight as an option,
but doesn’t say how much it eats into the headroom. While we’re on this
subject, the automaker promises excellent headroom in the third row and easy
access thanks to the sliding second-row seats which travel 250 mm forward and backward. Chevrolet will sell the Blazer in four trim levels in
China: LT, Premier, Redline and sporty RS.
