The Seat Ateca SUV started its life cycle
four years ago, which means a mid-generational refresh is probably due by now.
Judging by these spy photos, just such a refresh is indeed coming up in a few
months’ time. The alleged 2021 Ateca sports a redesigned front end, and while
its brake lights are no different from before, chances are good that they will
be restyled, too.
The electronic safety feature list will
likely expand to incorporate new and useful driver aids, and the infotainment
system might also get a minor update, even though it already received a large
one last year.
As far as the engines are concerned, the
new Seat Ateca will probably follow the example of the fourth-gen Leon. This
means updated diesel engines, mild hybrids (eTSI), and a single plug-in hybrid
spec (eHybrid).
The sports-oriented Cupra Ateca should
also get its facelift treatment soon. Among other things, it will likely
benefit from the same power boost as the Cupra Leon Sportstourer 4Drive. Both
pack the same basic engine (I4 2.0 turbo), but while the Ateca gets 300 hp and 400 Nm out of it, the Leon gets 310 hp.
