Audi announced the discontinuation of its
iconic R8 and TT sports cars more than a year ago. The reasons were trivial:
high R&D costs associated with EVs, digitalization, and self-driving
technologies. It remains to be seen whether either of the two gets resurrected
as a PHEV or BEV someday, but one thing is clear: tuners will continue giving
them all the love and care they deserve.
Our today’s example is called Audi R8 4S
‘Apocalypticar’, and it is a work by Wheelsandmore. Aside from the mandatory
new wheels, it boasts a substantial power increase. The full B3AST² kit
complemented with an ECU update, a Promax dual-clutch system and a few other
mods enabled a boost to 1,050 hp and 1,000 Nm total.
Tuned like this, the spyder car needs only
2.7 seconds for its 0-100 km/h routine, another 3.6 s for 100-200
km/h, and mere 7.9 s more for 200-300 km/h. It
hits its speed ceiling at a dizzying 357 km/h, and that within mere
20 seconds from the launch.
On the outside, the matte-black
Wheelsandmore F.I.W.E. wheels installed in 20 inches up front and 21 inches at
the rear round off the project. The ride height has been dropped via coilovers,
and the tuner offers an optional hydraulic lift kit for faster adjustment.
