The all-electric Polestar 2 fastback
celebrated its premiere more than a year ago, and today, Geely has finally
proceeded to assemble it on its factory in China.
The company stayed true to its plain
naming convention, putting out the Polestar 2 straight after the Polestar 1
PHEV coupe. It used to be an in-house tuning subdivision of Volvo prior to
becoming a standalone brand.
The car comes powered by dual electric
motors rated at 408 PS and 660 Nm of torque. It sprints
0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and runs out of its battery juice shortly
before the 500 km mark.
Feature-wise, the Polestar 2 is Geely
Group’s first vehicle to boast an Android-based infotainment system on board,
complete with Google Play Services integration.
Once it hits the showrooms throughout
Europe and North America, the fastback-shaped EV should provide some robust
competition for the Tesla Model 3. The asking price in EU is € 39,900, and the
pre-order books are already open. If you hurry, you may get your own Polestar 2
as soon as this summer.
