BYD will launch its premium EV saloon, the Han, in Europe, for a projected MSRP of anywhere between € 45,000 (US$ 49,000) and € 55,000 (US$ 60,000), placing it firmly in the executive car segment. The Han, which features BYD’s new Blade Battery technology, is also scheduled to be launched in China, where it will make its debut towards the end of June 2020.

While BYD will usually name its passenger cars after Chinese dynasties, the Han has been conceived, designed and manufactured to standards more in tune with luxury European models, according to the brand.

Visually, this model employs BYD’s new “EV Dragon Face” design language, blending elements of a traditional Chinese Dragon aesthetic with modern European design cues. The Han will also come with BYD’s soon-to-be-released ‘DiPilot’, a self-learning, intelligent driving assistance system, working with the latest 5G technology.

As for performance, the Blade Battery can produce a stable current of up to 800 Amps, while an electric motor or dual-motors power the wheels – depends on which version you purchase. Range is expected to sit at around the 450 km mark, while zero to 100 km/h) will take just 3.9 seconds.
