Mercedes has released the first teaser
images of the facelifted E-Class Coupe and Cabrio. et to be introduced shortly,
the models will follow in the footsteps of the updated sedan and wagon. Mercedes
is keeping details under wraps, but said the facelifted E-Class Cabrio
“combines everyday practicality, exemplary safety and superior travel comfort
with a sporty, elegant design.” The company went on to say we can expect a more
dynamic front fascia with a standard diamond grille and “flatter” LED
headlights.
The drop top also promises to be “more
powerful and efficient than ever before.” The company didn’t elaborate, but
promised new engines with EQ Boost. Speaking of electrified engines,
Mercedes-AMG confirmed the updated E53 Coupe will have an electrified
powertrain that features a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that
produces 429 hp and 520 Nm. The model will also
have an EQ Boost starter-generator that can deliver an additional 21 hp and 249 Nm of torque. While the powertrain carries over,
the E53 will have a “thoroughly upgraded interior” and a strengthened identity
with “characteristic design features.”
A lot of questions remain, but the
facelifted E-Class Sedan suggests the Coupe and Cabrio will have a new steering
wheel, revised upholstery, and 10.25- or 12.3-inch displays for the digital
instrument cluster and infotainment system. We can also expect updated driver
assistance systems and several new features such as energizing seats and Urban
Guard protection packages.
There could also be a new six-cylinder and
a hybridized 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol. The latter produces 197 hp and has an integrated starter-generator that can contribute an
additional 20 hp and 180 Nm)of torque. Mercedes
didn’t say when the facelifted E-Class Coupe and Cabrio will be unveiled, but
it sounds like a debut could come either later this month or early next month.
