New images of Haval’s latest SUV have hit
the web out of China along with details about the new design. The vehicle, currently
referred to with the codename B06, was initially thought to be the
latest-generation H5, but those reports have since been proven inaccurate. The
latest teasers showcase the Haval in detail prior to it hitting the market in
the third quarter.
It has been designed by Phil Simmons, who
was appointed the design director of the Haval brand by Great Wall Motors in
2018 after previously working at Land Rover. Despite that, its styling bears
more similarities to the upcoming Ford Bronco rather than a Land Rover.
The boxy shape of the Haval B06 is the
first thing that catches the eye. Found up front are circular headlights while
there is also a prominent grille with three horizontal slats. Simmons has also
penned a black bumper that incorporates small fog lights and a rugged-looking
chin section.
Viewed from the side, the B06 stands very
tall and upright and sports black contrasting wheel arches. It has also been
pictured with roof rails and has thick D-pillars, as well as very short front
and rear overhangs. As for the rear, we can see sideways L-shaped taillights
that somewhat remind us of those used by the Lynk & Co 01, another SUV from
China.
As you can see in these pictures from
China’s Auto 163, the place where we can find a whiff of JLR flair is the
interior, mainly due to the shape of the chunky steering wheel and round gear selector. Elsewhere, there are vertical air vents, a digital
instrument cluster and an infotainment screen that has an asymmetrical design.
