Haven’t heard of the McLaren BC-03? Well,
that’s because the forthcoming hypercar hasn’t actually been revealed but that
hasn’t stopped Knight International from reportedly securing a build slot and
listing it for sale at a € 300,000 premium.
A lot of mystery surrounds the McLaren
BC-03. The British car manufacturer confirmed the existence of the project in
October 2018 when it claimed it would be a one-off. While details about the
vehicle were scarce at the time, it was reported the BC-03 would take
inspiration from the McLaren Vision Gran Turismo concept.
Fast forward to September 2019 and a
series of photos reportedly depicting the BC-03 emerged online alongside claims
that McLaren would actually build 5 units. While the legitimacy of these images
has never been verified, they are thought to be legitimate and reveal the BC-03
will be extremely striking, albeit perhaps not quite as in-your-face as the
Senna.
Knight International claims that 15 units
of the BC-03 are being built and that it has the build slot for one of them.
But, given how few and far between details on the car are, we don’t know how
much it’ll cost to secure this build slot, other than that it comes at a
€ 300,000 premium over MSRP.
From a visual standpoint, images have
depicted the BC-03 with a front fascia not too dissimilar to the 720S, complete
with familiar ‘eye-socket’ headlights. From the front back, however, all of the
body panels appear to be bespoke, including complex angels and sharps around
the doors. The most eye-catching part of the hypercar is the rear thanks to a
towering wing, a prominent shark fin running along the engine cover, and a
pronounced diffuser.
