Buick has strengthened its electrified
portfolio in China by launching two new models: the Velite 6 and Velite 7. Available
in three trim levels and priced between RMB 159,800 and 179,800 (US$ 22,815-US$ 25,670), including local subsidies, the Velite 6 is a plug-in hybrid
wagon packed with all sorts of technology gear.
The 1.5-liter engine works together with
dual electric motors, producing a combined output of 181 HP and 380 Nm of peak torque, paired to an E-CVT. The 0-100
km/h)acceleration takes 9 seconds and providing the juice for a zero-emission
range of 60 km is the 9.5 kWh battery, made by LG, which supports 80
kW charging.
The Velite 6 has three driving modes named
the Normal, Sport and Lock, comes with Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone
Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking and Automatic
Parking Assist. The ion air purifying system, large panoramic sunroof and
others are also included, and the car has a total cargo space of 1,075 liters.
Priced from RMB 179,800 and 199,800
(US$ 25,670-US$ 28,525), the Velite 7 is offered in two
versions. The electric SUV is powered by an electric motor that develops 174 HP and 360 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h of
8.6 seconds. The LG-made 55.6 kWh battery backs up the assembly, offering a
range of 500 km, and it supports AC and DC fast charging, so
achieving over 210 km takes around 30 minutes.
One pedal driving is supported, and things
such as the 8-inch LED instrument cluster, 10-inch infotainment system, Apple
CarPlay, Baidu CarLife, 4G connectivity, voice assistance, wireless charging,
navigation system, 360-degree cameras, automatic cruise control and autonomous
emergency braking are on deck.
