Torsus has dropped an image
gallery of their latest product, the Terrastorm, to celebrate its market launch
in Europe. Based on the Volkswagen Crafter / MAN TGE, it’s available in
multiple configurations, either as a cargo van or passenger van with up to 20 seats, and prices start at € 57,461 (US$ 67,386).
Engineered and made in Slovakia, the
Terrastorm is offered with the 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine, in two power
guises: 138 HP and 340 Nm of torque, and 174 HP and 410 Nm. Power is directed to the 4Motion
all-wheel-drive system via a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic
transmission.
The off-road minibus is 6,000
mm long, 2,065 mm wide, and 2,880 mm tall, with a 3,640 mm wheelbase. It has an 290 mm ground clearance, approach
and departure angles of 26 and 20 degrees respectively and 690/820 mm fording depth standard and increased.
The Terrastorm is available in two trim
levels, the TT1 Coach and TT2 Nomad, and both feature an upgraded chassis,
off-road suspension, all-wheel drive with locking rear differential, visual
makeover, front winch and scratch-resistant coating on the lower body panels.
It also has a skid plate protecting the fuel tank, differential, engine, and
gearbox, bull-bar, rear light grilles, roof rack with integrated lights, rear
ladder and spare tire rack. It rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich
all-terrain tires.
Inside, the Terrastorm can be customized
to suit the needs of each customer. The cabin is lined with 30 mm thermal insulation, has an anti-slip floor that’s easy to clean, and does not
eschew the usual modern gear. The Medivac Terrastorm variant has also been
unveiled as a demo vehicle, which can be used as a mobile ICU or to transport
patients. It can be equipped to comply with local regulations and features
everything required from such a machine.
The Terrastorm can be purchased through
Torsus’ international dealer network. The company is present on three
continents, including Europe, South America, and Australia, and there are
negotiations to expand to the United States and other markets worldwide.
