There are just 1,350 lucky people who will
be able to purchase a second-generation Ford GT directly from the automaker,
and each is provided with access to a private configurator in order to spec up
their supercar.
Prolific car collector Manny Khosbhin
recently received his allocation for a new GT. Mind you, it’s not a
run-of-the-mill GT (the term here used liberally), but a rare 2021 GT Heritage
Edition, one of just 40 examples bound for the production line. In the
following clip, Khosbhin showcases his GT in the configurator.
Ford unveiled the GT Heritage Edition just
a couple of weeks ago. It has been designed to pay tribute to the GT40 Mark II
that won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966 and sports a Frozen White paint scheme
with asymmetrical Race Red accents, an exposed carbon fiber hood and ‘98’
graphics.
As Khoshbin discovered in the
configurator, there are very few areas where he is able to customize the car to
his taste. In fact, the only real option that is available are carbon fiber
wheels which replace the standard gold wheels. There are also no areas of the
interior that can be personalized. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing
as the 2021 GT Heritage Edition already has a stunning interior which features
red Alcantara seats, anodized red paddle shifters, and a host of red accents.
Moreover, the instrument panel, headliner and steering wheel are clad in
Alcantara.
Ford will start deliveries of 2021 GT
models early next year and complete production of the mid-engined supercar in
2022.
