Dacia has started teasing the new
generation Logan and Sandero, suggesting that they are about to be uncovered,
possibly as early as this month, in a short video published on social media
today. While they did not say what models are being previewed, it is clear that
we are looking at the Logan sedan, Sandero hatchback and its high-riding twin,
the Sandero Stepway.
In recent spy shots, we’ve seen that all
three will have an evolutionary design bringing the current styling up to date
while maintaining similar proportions. Inside, a standalone infotainment system
will sit on top of the new dashboard panel, next to the redesigned
multi-function steering wheel. A push-button start will likely be part of the
offering, but designers couldn’t be bothered with changing the controls used to
operate the wipers and music/radio.
The biggest news is that they
will ditch the old platform in favor of a simplified version of the CMF-B,
which is the foundation stone of the new Renault Clio and Captur. This will
make them compatible with electrification, with earlier unconfirmed information
stating that they will use the 1.6-liter E-Tech hybrid powertrain found in the
French supermini, where it produces 138 HP.
Mild-hybrid powertrains are understood to
be employed later on, but besides the electrified range, the entry-level models
should feature the naturally aspirated 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine,
with 75 PS. The 1.0-liter turbo-three is also expected to be
found under the hood of the mid-spec versions, with 100 PS, and
the 1.5-liter dCi diesel will live on as well, perhaps with 85 PS.
The 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline unit co-developed with Daimler will
reportedly be reserved for the Duster SUV.
