HAAH Automotive Holdings introduced the
Chery-based Vantas VX and TXL earlier this year, and now the company has
announced a second brand which will also use Chery-based models. Dubbed T-GO,
the brand will be launched in the United States in late 2022 and assemble
vehicles based on Chery’s T1X platform.
The company is keeping details under
wraps, but said T-GO’s first model will be a compact crossover which will be
followed by at least two other vehicles by 2024. The models will be assembled
at an American plant using both domestic and imported parts.
Given the T-GO name and the fact that
vehicles will be based on the T1X platform, it seems like we can expect
crossovers such as the Chery Tiggo 7. The latest version of the crossover
features a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that produces 154 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Customers can also opt for a turbocharged
1.6-liter engine developing 194 hp and 290 Nm of
torque. If T-GO follows in the footsteps of Vantas, we can expect the models to
be rebadged versions of their Chinese counterparts. However, there might be
some powertrain changes and other updates as part of the homologation process.
