The facelifted Opel Insignia lineup has gained two new petrol and diesel drivetrain combinations in Europe. The main addition is a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit, available on both the 2020 Insignia Grand Sport lifback and 2020 Insignia Sports Tourer wagon. The engine delivers 170 PS and a peak torque figure of 350 Nm from as low 1,500 rpm.
Offered in combination with a nine-speed
automatic transmission, the new 2.0-liter engine enables the Insignia to sprint
from zero to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 228 km/h. Equipped with this engine, the Insignia Grand Sport is said to
average 6.0-6.4 l/100 km (47-44.1 mpg UK), with corresponding CO2 emissions of
150-145 g/km.
Also new is the combination of a 2.0-liter
diesel, an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive for the Insignia. With 174
PS and 380 Nm of torque on tap, the Insignia 2.0
Diesel needs 8.9 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h and can reach
a top speed of 223 km/h. This powertrain combination is more
economical, with the Insignia Grand Sport officially rated at 5.1 l/100 km
(55.4 mpg UK) and 135 g/km CO2.
Both new powertrain options comply with
the strict Euro 6d emissions standard. Prices in Germany (including VAT) start
from € 38,919 (US$ 46,105) for the Insignia 2.0 Turbo and € 41,531 (US$ 49,200) for the
Insignia 2.0 Diesel with AWD.
