The Volvo XC40 Recharge will have an MSRP of US$ 53,990, excluding a federal tax credit of up to US$ 7,500, when it arrives in the company’s U.S. showrooms later this year, and CA$ 64,950 (US$ 49,346) in Canada. The all-electric SUV features a pair of motors that deliver a combined 402 HP and 659 Nm of torque. Power is supplied by a 78 kWh battery that supports 150 kW DC fast charging, which gives it up to 80 percent of its capacity in around 40 minutes.
Standard XC40 Recharge features include
Active Bending LED headlamps, Run-off Road Protection, Blind Spot Information
System with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert with Autobrake. It also has
19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof with power sunshade, dual-zone
climate control, four USB-C ports, a reversing camera, a 12.3-inch driver
display and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports over-the-air
updates.
Customers will be able to spend more on
options such as the Climate Package and Advanced Package. The former costs US$ 750
and adds heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and heated windshield-wiper
blades, and the latter will set them back US$ 1,300, bringing a wireless
smartphone charging pad, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control,
high-pressure headlight cleaning and 12-volt outlet in the luggage area.
Other standalone options include metallic
paint finish (US$ 645), lava carpet (US$ 100), energy-saving heat pump that
pre-conditions the cabin and extends the battery range (US$ 350), 20-inch wheels
(US$ 800) and Harman Kardon audio (US$ 800). On a related note, Volvo is fighting
range anxiety by teaming up with ChargePoint, offering its customers the option
to buy the latter’s home charger and giving them access to their public
charging networks
