Cupra’s first exclusive model, the Formentor, has officially launched in the UK, with the lineup counting six trim levels named the V1, V2, VZ1, VZ2, VZ3 and VZ Edition. Pricing starts at £ 27,300 (US$ 35,343) for the V1 spec, which will become available from mid-November, packing a 150 PS 1.5-liter engine mated to a standard manual or optional DSG automatic transmission.

Depending on the grade, other engine options include the 190 PS 2.0-liter TSI, as well the plug-in hybrids that will launch in Q1 2021 with a combined output of 204 or 245 PS and an electric range of 50 km. The 2.0-liter TSI DSG 4Drive sits at the top of the range, with an output of 310 PS and 400 Nm.

The entry-level Formentor is nicely equipped, with 18-inch wheels, tinted rear windows, LED exterior lights, front fog lamps with cornering function, rear diffuser with fake exhaust trim, 10.25-inch digital gauges, 12-inch infotainment system, front sports seats, three-zone climate control and ambient lighting.

The V2 brings 19-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function wrapped in leather with copper stitching and the ‘Cupra’ logo embroidered in the headrest, a leather dashboard, door insert and side trim panel, heated steering wheel, reversing camera and park assist. Adding real exhaust pipes, dynamic chassis control, sports suspension, several active and passive safety features, and different upholstery is the VZ1 model.

Choosing the VZ2, which is already on sale from £ 39,830 (US$ 51,565), will get customers even more safety gear, as well as the dedicated ‘Cupra’ mode button and paddle shifters. Finally, the VZ3 gets Brembo brakes behind the copper and black 19-inch wheels, and the VZ Edition comes with different wheels and a panoramic sunroof.
