Fiat is celebrating the Panda’s 40th anniversary by unveiling a facelifted model dubbed the New Panda. The updated model has a new front bumper, modified side skirts and restyled wheels. It also sports a new touchscreen infotainment system with a 7-inch display and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The New Panda also features updated upholstery, a revised color palette and a new “woody” dashboard, which incorporates flakes of recycled wood, on the Cross.

The revamped Panda’s lineup has been expanded to include a new Sport variant. Designed to appeal to younger customers, it features two-tone 16-inch wheels and body-color mirrors and door handles. The latter are also available in gloss black when the Panda is ordered with the optional black roof. Rounding out the exterior highlights are “Sport” badges and an exclusive Matte Gray paint job.

In the interior there’s a titanium-colored dashboard, a black headliner and special door panels with eco-leather. Panda Sport buyers will also find two-tone seats which combine dark gray upholstery with “techno-leather details.” Customers looking for a more unique appearance can order the Pandemonio Pack that adds tinted windows, red brake calipers and a techno-leather steering wheel with red contrast stitching.

Under the hood, the mild hybrid powertrain is now available across the lineup. It consists of a 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine that develops 69 hp and a starter/generator that recovers energy during braking and deceleration and stores it in a small lithium-ion battery pack. It is then used to restart the engine, as part of the start/stop system, and provide an assist while accelerating.
